Knowledge is Priceless

There was an engineer who had a priceless gift for fixing things. After serving his company loyally for 30 years, he retired.

Several years later, his company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem
they were having, with one of their multi-crore rupee machines. They had tried everything else to get the machine fixed, but to no avail. The engineer reluctantly took on the challenge.

He spent a day studying the machine. At the end of it, he marked a small 'x' in chalk on a p;articular component and confidently stated. "This is where your problem is."

The part was replaced and machine worked perfectly again. The company received a bill for Rs. 5,00,000/- from the engineer for his service. They demanded an itemized accounting of his charges.

The engineer responded briefly : "One chalk mark... Rs. 10/-. Knowing where to put it Rs. 4,99,990." It was paid in full.
